Renton Wedding – Patty and Allan

Things have been quite busy this past few weeks. I started a new job doing real estate photography, in addition to my freelance photography work. And this past weekend (Memorial Day long weekend), I was honoured to capture another traditional Laos wedding in Renton, WA for Patty and Allan. I have covered traditional Laos wedding in the past, and it’s always nice to see their traditional colorful outfits and happiest celebrations with shots of liquor. The wedding festivities start off with the groom parading with his family and entourage. Then comes the greeting exchange of elders from both families as the groom walks in to the house. Shots of liquor are passed on to family members and then the rinsing of the groom’s feet before heading in and sitting next to his bride.

The ceremony for Patty and Allan was sweet, with spurts of happy “yeehaaas” and laughs from family members to show their love and support. Here are some snaps from their special day. Best wishes again to Patty & Allan.

Swan-E-Set Wedding – Marian & Jason

“April showers bring in May flowers.”

Rain showers is definitely something I’m getting more and more comfortable (and used to seeing) this time of the year. Maybe not so much when you have to take photos for a wedding. A lot goes through your mind and how many things can go wrong when you’re dealing with mother nature. But those worries fade away once you start pressing the shutter button on your camera to snap those special moments of the amazing people you’ll be working with such as Marian and Jason.

A week before the wedding, I had a meeting with Marian and Jason to quickly chat about and finalize their wedding timeline and of course, the weather topic came up. As I have always advised my clients, it’s always a good idea to have a plan B if the weather doesn’t cooperate – meaning, let’s get some umbrellas in hand. Wedding day came and we were right about the weather not being too nice, but luckily, we got some rain breaks when it’s needed most. I’m so proud of Marian and Jason, as well as the entire bridal party for sticking out the wet weather to get their shots in. None of them didn’t mind the rain, and from what Marian, Jason and I agreed on, a little rain on your wedding day means that it’s a nice blessing from our Father up above 🙂 Here are some snaps from their day. Congrats again to Marian and Jason.

Grandview Homes Grand Opening Event

A few months back, I did some real estate photography for Adera Homes. They have been developing and building world class homes and commercial spaces for over 45 years in BC. And about a week ago, I was happy to say that they reached out to me to cover their grand opening event on their last development phase – the Grandview homes, located in South Surrey, BC. The event started with a handful of influencers, alongside with a special guest chef, Matthew Stowe, who you’d remember, the winner of Top Chef Canada 2013. Matthew and his team from Joseph Richard Group demoed and showed off their cooking skills to start off the special VIP lunch for our guest bloggers and influencers. This delightful lunch was prepared in the show home’s amazing kitchen, and later served at the rooftop patio on a beautifully designed dining table by Aly Armstrong from Events by Aly. Here are some snaps from that amazing grand opening event.

Redwood Golf Course Wedding – Jackie and Matt

Summer has come and gone, and lots has happened in between. My family from NYC visited, got to check out Osoyoos, BC again, and of course weddings. Just a few weeks before Jackie and Matt’s wedding, we did a part two of their engagement session. It was a session we originally planned in the winter and by the beach. Little did we know, it was going to be freezing and super windy as heck. Even though I managed to get some shots of Jackie and Matt during the very brisk hours in that early afternoon of December, we all thought of one thing – let’s do another shoot when it’s a little warmer. So fast forward after the part two engagement session, Jackie and Matt finally said their vows to one another in front of their family and friends. I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but let’s just say that their grand entrance to the wedding reception is such a bad ass!!! Check out the images from their day and you’ll see what I’m talking about 🙂

Langley Wedding: Jessica & James

Jessica and James’ wedding was a nice small wedding that was held on a day where no one expected the sun to come out as brightly as it did. We were all praying and hoping that it wouldn’t be a wet weather considering that the forecast had been dreary for a good couple of months prior. But yes, the sun came out, and everyone who attended their wedding rocked out sunglasses on their outdoor ceremony. Everything was all set once I got to the venue and got some shots of their reception set up, and a few shots of both the groom and his groomsmen, and the bride-to-be with her bridesmaids. The ceremony was short and sweet, and I was so thrilled to capture Jessica and James’ very special day. Here are some snaps from their fantastic wedding day.

Love Her 2017 Gala

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been asked again by the Ovarian Cancer Canada team to do their photos for their biggest fundraising event that happens every year. We have been participating for this worthy cause for 4 years straight now, an event that helps raise funds and awareness to fight ovarian cancer in women. It’s great to see familiar faces and meet new ones who put their time and effort to help boost this event. For this year, the venue slightly moved a few blocks – from Fairmont Pacific Rim to Fairmont Waterfront. Despite the switch of venue, the people at Second Stage beautifully designed the space for this evening of fine wine, food and fashion. This year’s event host is none other than Global BC’s own, Sophie Lui, and entertainment was provided by Dan Dunn, a speed painter, who created masterpieces in front of live audience. His paintings were later auctioned and donated to Ovarian Cancer Canada. Here are some snaps from that evening, and we’re looking forward to next year big gala. Cheers!

Surrey Wedding – Jessica And Boyet (part deux)

Day 2

After a super windy and cloudy wedding day, the sun managed to hide once again and gave us quite a wet weather. Some occasional downpours got me worried and wondered if we will ever get some decent photos of Jessica, Boyet and the bridal party. We did however talked about plan B, which is bringing some umbrellas and we can incorporate them in the photo session. And with an unexpected little hiccup in the timeline, we managed to dodge the downpours and got some shots outdoors. Outdoor pictures done = happy bridal party, happy bride and groom.

Surrey Wedding: Jessica And Boyet

Day 1

First wedding of the season and we were greeted with some spring showers and strong winds. I sometimes don’t bother checking the forecast anymore because of inaccuracy (just in Vancouver), but I still hope that we don’t get too washed out. Nevertheless, it was a very special day for our couple, Jessica and Boyet. Their traditional Hindu wedding ceremony started off at Vedic Cultural Centre, where the temple is decorated with vibrant colours and floral arrangements. Friends and families gathered as they started off with welcoming Boyet in the family with some pre-wedding rituals. It was definitely interesting to see traditional weddings and how they are start off with their ceremonies. You can feel the love and welcoming of Jessica’s family to Boyet as one of their own, and they all did it with lots of laughter and joy.

Here are some snaps from the first day. Stay tuned for the snaps on Day 2 on the next blog.

Vancouver’s Winter Wonderland

Ok, so things haven’t really looked up weather-wise, but, because Mother Nature has been kind enough to give us more snow to shovel this week, I finally took Joen and her family’s offer to do a quick portrait session during the snow fall. With our schedules working out and getting some sort of a break from the shovelling, we headed to a nearby park and did some happy, fun, ‘winter wonderland’ type of family pics. Here’s how they turned out:
